Arsenal planning to replace struggling Thomas Partey with £51million-rated Martin Zubimendi

are set to sell this summer as they aim to raise funds to sign Martin Zubimendi, according to reports.

Partey has made just five appearances for the Gunners this season after being decimated by injury problems, and hasn’t played since October thanks to a hamstring issue.

That injury ruled him out of the , and though he returned to training last week, recently revealed that .

‘With Thomas, unfortunately we had a little setback a few days ago so he’s not going to be available to be in the squad,’ the Arsenal boss said ahead of his side’s pivotal clash against Liverpool.

‘Whether it’s a matter of days or weeks, we will see, but he had a little thing.’

Though an important player in the past, it appears that Arsenal have run out of patience with the 30-year-old and are ready to move him on when the transfer window reopens.

report that Partey is ‘expected’ to leave the Emirates at the end of the season, when he’ll have just one year left on his contract.

Moreover, Arteta already has a replacement in mind in the form of Zubimendi, with any money raised from Partey’s sale likely to go toward singing the Real Sociedad midfielder.

Arsenal considered making a move for Zubimendi last summer but opted to go for Declan Rice instead, while the player was not interested in leaving Sociedad in January.

It is not known which clubs might be interested in buying Partey, who signed for the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for £45million and who has gone on to play 104 times for Arteta’s side.
