defender was involved in an awkward exchange with a reporter following Arsenal’s 5-0 win over .
The 26-year-old was interviewed by Jules Breach alongside teammate Gabriel Martinelli.
Gabriel scored the opening goal for the Gunners and it looked like he had two until his second effort went down as a Dean Henderson own goal.
TNT Sports reporter Breach informed Gabriel in the post-match interview but the Brazilian awkwardly appeared to completely ignore her – or misunderstand – as he went on to claim that he did in fact score two goals.
‘One of your goals has gone down as an own goal by Dean Henderson,’ Breach told the Brazilian centre-back.
Gabriel said: ‘Ah, yeah, but I am so happy to score two goals today and help my team.’
Breach ignored the fact that Gabriel had misunderstood and moved on to different questions.
‘[Today’s win] was so important,’ Martinelli said later in the interview, .
‘We know our qualities. It doesn’t matter what people say on the outside, we believe in ourselves. We showed that today and what we can do. We knew we needed a game like that where we had a clean sheet and scored five goals.
‘We will try our best and keep going like that because we know our expectation.’
