insists he isn’t panicking despite having been reduced to a bit-part role at so far this season.
The Belgium international was an instant hit following his January move from Brighton having been identified as an alternative to who joined having snubbed the Gunners.
Trossard impressed during pre-season, scoring twice in a 5-2 win over Barcelona and netting the vital late equaliser that forced the Community Shield against Manchester City to a penalty shootout.
Despite never having let Mikel Arteta down, the 29-year-old has hardly featured in the opening four Premier League games of the season and was an unused substitute in last weekend’s dramatic 3-1 victory over Manchester United.
Trossard had started in the 2-2 draw against Fulham a week earlier but was withdrawn at half-time with side trailing to Andreas Pereira’s freak early strike.
Despite his lack of involvement in recent weeks, Trossard is confident the picture will change soon with his side playing three times every week and a return to Champions League action.
‘I don’t know how the national coach feels about that,’ said Trossard when asked if he feared losing his place in the Belgium team ahead of Euro 2024.
‘I am still convinced that I will play enough matches. I will be ready for the European Championship.’
‘A lot of young guys have come along who want to show themselves,’Â Trossard added when asked about the increased level of competition he now also faces at international level.
‘That’s good too. There are many good players, such as Bakayoko and Doku. But I see that every week at Arsenal – that’s nothing new.’
