are open to the idea of signing from this summer, according to reports.
The 37-year-old has indicated to United that he wants to leave Old Trafford before the end of the transfer window in order to play football next season.
United, however, are adamant that they do not want to sell the forward, who scored 24 goals in all competitions last season.
Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has already met with Chelsea’s new co-owner Todd Boehly to discuss a potential deal for the Portugal international.
And according to , Boehly ‘made it clear’ during his meeting with Mendes that Chelsea could be an option for Ronaldo.
Chelsea are in the market for a new forward following the departure of Romelu Lukaku, but Ronaldo’s £480,000-a-week salary would need to be reduced.
Speaking about Ronaldo’s arrival at United last year, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel made it clear that he is a huge admirer.
‘I think it is not a secret that any team in the world without Cristiano [Ronaldo] is in some parts of the game a weaker team,’ Tuchel said.
‘He is one of the greatest who has ever played this game, and he proves it every time he is on the field.
‘Now [he is] in the Premier League and in the Champions League, so they lost a big champion, a big point of reference and a big personality.
‘But you can win games and be a strong team without Cristiano Ronaldo. This is also true.’
Chelsea are one of the few teams who could fund a move for Ronaldo and it’s understood that Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have already ruled themselves out of the running to sign the 37-year-old.
