Members of ’s first team have sought assurances from the club’s heirachy that they intend to strengthen the squad this summer after a £220m fire sale.

The Blues have spent the transfer window offloading a number of first-team players and they’ve raised more than £220m through player sales.

The likes of , , , Kalidou Koulibaly, Mateo Kovacic, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz have all left the club for significant fees, while N’Golo Kante and Cesar Azpilicueta have left on free transfers.

Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku are the only arrivals but the latter was signed before Mauricio Pochettino’s appointment.

The Blues were understandably keen to recoup cash after a £600m outlay over the last two windows but the club finished 12th last season, and their squad is arguably weaker now than 12 months ago.

With that in mind, the Daily Mail says a number of players have sought assurances from the club that they intend to invest this summer.

Pochettino is known to favour working with a small, tight squad and would prefer to promote youngsters from the academy than plug gaps with arrivals.

But, with the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also set to leave, Chelsea could feasibly end the window having generated around £300m in player sales.
