Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp returned to his former club at the weekend and had a special message for homegrown Gunners Bukayo Saka and .

The youngsters have been a big part of Arsenal’s improvement this season under Mikel Arteta and both started on Saturday in the 3-1 win over , which saw the club climb back into fourth place in the table.

Saka scored his 11th league goal of the season in the win over the Red Devils, which puts him one ahead of Smith Rowe on that tally as the duo sit at the top of Arsenal’s goal-scoring charts this season.

The Dutch legend is a big fan of Saka, 20, and Smith Rowe, 21, saying that they remind him of the English stars that were at Arsenal when he came to the club in 1995.

The likes of Tony Adams, , David Seaman and Steve Bould were all important figures at the club when Bergkamp signed from Inter Milan and he says he sees the same ‘passion and aggression’ in the exciting young England stars at the Emirates today.

Bergkamp tells the Arsenal duo in a video posted on the club’s social media: ‘We learned a lot from the English guys. They know what English football means. They know what means. And you guys know that as well.

‘So if you bring that to the team, fantastic. You know that aggression, that passion, that’s what I like about you. You can tell you are English guys.’

With five games left to play this season, Arsenal have got themselves back into the driving seat in the race for Champions League football next campaign.

Tottenham could only draw at Brentford on Saturday so the Gunners are two points ahead of their north London rivals, having played the same amount of games.

The crunch game between the two sides comes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday 12 May, which will go a long way to deciding which of the two sides grabs fourth place.
