The 37-year-old completed a sensational return to Old Trafford on deadline day last summer, with United moving quickly to beat rivals to the forward by agreeing a £12million move with .
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had not planned on signing a striker last summer and he had worked tirelessly to convince Cavani to stay at the club, with the Uruguyan keen on a return to South America.
Cavani scored 17 goals last season and such was his popularity with supporters, he eventually caved and signed a new one-year deal with the club.
However, that was on the premise that he would get regular game time and that the club would not sign a new striker.
But within three weeks of the season’s start, United signed Ronaldo and Cavani has made just 17 appearances in all competitions this term – scoring just twice.
