Van de Beek’s time at Old Trafford has been underwhelming to say the least, arriving from  with a glowing reputation, but failing to make any kind of impact.
The 26-year-old has made just 62 appearances since his 2020 move, unable to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Erik ten Hag that he deserves a place in the first team.
Van de Beek has made just one Premier League appearance so far this season, coming off the bench in the home defeat to Crystal Palace in September.
Surprise La Liga leaders Girona are also keen on Van de Beek but Frankfurt are leading the race and new indicate that Dino Toppmoller’s side are growing confident of securing his signature.
Talks between Van de Beek’s representatives and Frankfurt are ongoing and it is thought that his agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has a strong relationship with the club.
It is believed that Frankfurt will sign Van de Beek on loan until the end of the season, although it is not yet clear if a buy option will be included.
Van de Beek’s United contract runs until 2025, but the club would be happy to do a deal to sell him on a permanent basis in the summer of 2024.
The Red Devils spent £40m on his services in 2020 and would only be able to recover a fraction of that next summer, although if he impresses on a loan deal in the second half of this season then his valuation could increase.
