Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun admits he will speak to Mikel Arteta at the end of the season before coming to an ‘agreement’ over his future at the club.
The 21-year-old is enjoying an impressive loan spell with Reims this season and he’s the third top scorer in Ligue 1 with 17 goals to his name.
The England U21 international signed a four-year deal with the Gunners in 2021 after coming close to leaving the Gunners on a free transfer.
Speaking in February, Arteta expressed his happiness at Balogun’s loan spell.
‘I’m so happy for him. He’s a boy that has a really clear idea of what he wants to do with his career. He’s really ambitious, really committed and really brave,’ said Arteta.
‘I’m really happy for him because he deserves what he’s getting. When you look at the numbers and what he is doing, it’s just incredible. It’s very rare to see that.’
Balogun has attracted interest from across Europe after his fine performances this term and Arsenal will consider sending him out on loan again next season.
However, with two years left on his deal this summer, it could be the perfect time to cash in on Balogun if Arsenal feel happy with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
‘It’s really positive that he could say these things and I mean I’m sure we’ll speak at the end of the season and we’ll have a lot of things to discuss,’ Balogun told SkySports.
‘But it’s nice that he’s watching and paying attention to what’s going on, and yeah it’s good.”
‘There’s discussions that need to take place and it’s not a decision that will only be with me. The club will let me know their point of view and I’m sure we’ll come to an agreement.’
