hero Frank Lebouef has slammed his former club for ignoring ‘perfect’ signings like Aleksandar Mitrovic and James Ward-Prowse.

The Blues have embarked on another huge transfer window of signings this summer.

broke the British transfer record to sign Moises Caicedo in a £155m deal from Brighton last week and he was followed by the £60m arrival of from Southampton.

They’ve been added to the likes of , Nicolas Jackson, Roberto Sanchez and Axel Disasi.

But Chelsea have collected just one point from their opening two Premier League matches, with the Blues losing 3-1 against West Ham on Sunday.

Hammers new boy Ward-Prowse provided two assists at the London Stadium, while Chelsea looked short of goals in attack. The midfielder joined the Hammers in a £30m deal, while Mitrovic is on the brink of a £45m move to Saudi Arabia.

And Lebouef says the game proved Chelsea have too many inconsistent performers, and the club should have signed Premier League proven stars like Ward-Prowse.

‘We got carried away last week because we thought something was changing. Inconsistency showed that we are back to what we knew about the team. Some players are good one day and not so good another day,’ the Frenchman told ESPN.

‘The only good thing we saw was , we found the player that we had known. The rest of the team, offensively they created almost nothing. Defensively there were so many mistakes as well.”

‘I won’t talk about some players like , they need to settle down. Some players need to wake up and most of them need to show consistency. The result didn’t surprise me in a way.”

‘I always say it and I will keep saying it, Chelsea are getting young players on long-term contracts that will be nice for the future. This club is not a team for the future, it’s a team for the present time! And in the present, they are not ready.”

‘Why didn’t Chelsea think about players like James Ward-Prowse or Aleksandar Mitrovic? I don’t know, they’re not big-time players, but they don’t cost £100million and they are going to serve you immediately because they know the league.

‘When I saw James Ward-Prowse signing for West Ham, I thought… oh my God, why didn’t Chelsea consider that guy?! He would have been perfect. He showed that [yesterday].’
