Fulham are ‘trying hard’ to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno, according to the player’s agent, although there are other clubs interested in his signature this summer.

The 30-year-old has one year left on his contract with the Gunners but is expected to leave during this transfer window after being replaced in the first team by .

The Germany international had been first choice with the gloves for three seasons, but made just four Premier League appearances last campaign since the arrival of Ramsdale from Sheffield United.

Newcastle have been linked with Leno, as have Benfica and a number of Bundesliga clubs, but his agent has talked up newly-promoted Fulham as a possible destination for his client.

Leno’s representative is still not happy that Ramsdale is holding onto the gloves at the Emirates, believing his man is the rightful first choice.

Joannis Koukoutrigas told : ‘He is a German national goalkeeper, has always performed well at and is an absolute team player.

‘For me personally, Bernd is also the clear No.1 at Arsenal. With all due respect to the competitors.

‘Yes, Fulham is trying hard to get Bernd. Very professionally. This is also true for some other clubs and shows his status. But, as I said, for me he is the No.1 at Arsenal and we are therefore also relaxed.’
