Gary Neville aimed a dig at ’s ‘world exclusive’ interview shortly before the first part of the forward’s conversation with aired.
The world has been drip-fed bombshell statements from Ronaldo’s interview but last night was the first time that viewers were able to watch the first half of the conversation, with the second part due tonight.
Ronaldo said he had ‘no respect’ for Erik ten Hag, criticised the facilities at Carrington and said the Glazers did not care about the club.
As well as that, Ronaldo slammed former team-mate Gary Neville for his criticism of him and said he was seeking fame and headlines by taking aim at him.
Ronaldo’s words came in response to Neville’s recent statement that the player and club should go their separate ways, while he criticised the forward for refusing to come on against Tottenham.
Neville has refused to get into a slanging match with his former team-mate but he couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at Ronaldo before his interview aired.
‘Tune into a “World Exclusive at 8pm tonight,’ said Neville.
‘Salford City vs Peterborough in the FACUP on ITV4 channel 120.’
United released a statement before the first part of Ronaldo’s statement, saying they will take action once the ‘full facts are known’.
It’s unlikely that the 37-year-old will play for the club again but the saga is far from over.
United are willing to let him leave for free but it’s unclear if Ronaldo will seek compensation, despite his hopes of exiting.
