Former midfielder Kleberson has urged the Red Devils to pull off an audacious move for Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino in the summer with his attributes suiting their style of play.

United look set to be on the lookout for a new striker in the summer with Edinson Cavani expected to move on while Anthony Martial and ’s futures look uncertain.

Kleberson feels 30-year-old Firmino could be the answer to their problems up front, having scored nine goals in all competitions this season.

‘Roberto Firmino’s style would suit Manchester United, especially the way he plays for Liverpool,’ the Brazilian told .

‘For the Brazil national team, he plays higher up, but for Liverpool he’s a bit deeper.

‘He’s learned so many things from Jurgen Klopp and he is so smart on the pitch. His movement to create space, or sometimes to occupy space, allows his teammates to.

‘If Manchester United wanted to make a change, he’s a good player that can help, especially with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho on the wings. Firmino can help those players create space when they’re on the attack.

‘That’s the type of player Manchester United should be looking at. A player with Firmino’s quality can help release the team. He’s a great player and he’d be a good fit, and a good signing for Manchester United.’

Firmino is approaching the final 12 months of his contract with Liverpool and it remains unclear if he’ll sign a new deal with the Merseyside outfit.

The striker has found himself in and out of the side this season with Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz being handed starts alongside Sadio Mane and Mo Salah.

Liverpool would unlikely entertain any offers from their rivals and for now the Red Devils need to focus on ensuring they finish in the top-four to secure Champions League football.

United currently sit sixth in the Premier League table, four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, but Kleberson says his former side don’t deserve a top-four finish this season.

‘It’s been such a complicated season for Manchester United. They’ve had so many ups and downs in the league but they’re still in the race for the final Champions League place,’ he added.

‘All the teams fighting for that fourth Champions League spot have been so inconsistent and if Manchester United can finish in the top four, it’ll be like winning the league for them.

‘Given the way they’ve played, they don’t deserve to get the fourth spot, but they have the squad with enough quality to get there.’
