After struggling in his first season back at Chelsea following his £97.5 million move in 2021, Lukaku was allowed to re-join Inter on loan last summer for this season.
The Belgium international has struggled with injuries this season but still managed to end the campaign with 14 goals in all competitions.
, and the club are expected to sign a new striker in the summer transfer window.
Zhang, however, has indicated that Inter will attempt to work out a deal with Chelsea this summer.
‘He [Lukaku] has shown to be a great forward for Inter, he’s an extraordinary guy,’ Zhang said after Inter’s defeat.
‘He’s under contract at , so we’ll have to wait and speak with them to understand his situation.
‘There are many positive things to reflect on this season, it needs to be a starting point to continue our growth day after day.
‘Coming here and playing as we did in this final is something that will live long in the memory.’
Meanwhile, Thierry Henry has warned Lukaku that his close-range miss during Inter’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League final on Saturday evening ‘will come back to haunt him’.
‘He’s gonna have to go through exactly what he went through after the World Cup,’ Henry told CBS Sports.
‘People will still, although I think it was a tough one with Dimarco, people will still blame him.
‘The header in the six-yard box will come back to haunt him. He’s going to have to live with that. I’ve lost finals, I’ve won finals, sometimes you’re not on the right side.’
