has been left out of ’s starting XI for their showdown with this evening.

late on in their group opener against Austria on Monday night following .

While he will not require surgery, the Real Madrid star will have to wear a protective face mask, likely for the rest of the competition.

But should he make it onto the pitch as a substitute, it will not be the blue, white and red mask Mbappe displayed during France training on Thursday night.

Instead, Mbappe will wear an all-black mask, with the Frenchman’s new accessory spotted on his face during the warm-up ahead of the clash with the Dutch in Leipzig.

This is because Uefa rules state ‘medical equipment worn on the playing field must be of a single colour’ and ‘must not allow the team or manufacturer to be identified.’

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Les Blues boss Didier Deschamps said: ‘Everything is going in the right direction after the major shock he had with the consequences of course.’

‘Yesterday, he was able to go out and do a little activity. This will also be the case this evening. It’s moving in the right direction for make sure he can be available tomorrow.’

Marcus Thuram is handed the task of leading the French attack with Adrien Rabiot moved into a more advanced role on the left in Mbappe’s absence.

That has left room for Aurelien Tchouameni to return to the side after his recent injury with the Real Madrid star starting in midfield.

France XI: Maignan, Kounde, Upamecano, Saliba, Hernandez, Tchouameni, Rabiot, Kante, Griezmann, Dembele, Thuram.

Netherlands XI: Verbruggen, Dumfries, Van Dijk, De Vrij, Ake, Schouten, Simons, Reijnders, Frimpong, Depay, Gakpo.

William Saliba, meanwhile, continues at the heart of defence. The Arsenal star has struggled to force his way into the France starting XI despite his excellent form over the last two seasons for the Gunners.

Saliba helped his side keep a clean sheet against Austria after complaining of a pain in his right ankle.

Despite that minor injury scare, he retains his place in the side tonight alongside Dayot Upamecano.
