After a tricky first season at Anfield, the forward has been in scintillating form this campaign, registering seven goals and five assists in 14 games so far.
His efforts have not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool legend Suarez full of praise for his Uruguay teammate.
Replying to Nunez’s Instagram post about the win, Suarez said: ‘BREATHTAKING beast! Keep it up, goleador! #YNWA’
Comparisons between Nunez and Suarez were inevitable when the former signed from Benfica in a deal worth up to £85million, and after an underwhelming debut season where he only scored 15 goals and notably missed many big chances, some were quick to call him a flop.
And while , it does seem that Jurgen Klopp has worked out how to get the best out of the 24-year-old.
‘It was an amazing goal,’ Gakpo said of his teammate’s strike.
‘Lots of quality in the action and it was a good pass from Trent [Alexander-Arnold]. Darwin showed good action to cut inside and it was a fantastic goal.
‘I think for the players it’s not really a surprise as we see his quality every time in training and in games as well.
