Manchester United issue fresh statement on Marcus Rashford following nightclub incident

have declared the matter surrounding missing training after visiting a nightclub ‘closed’.

Rashford reported ill for training on Friday and subsequently missed in the FA Cup on Sunday.

However, it emerged that , just hours before calling in sick.

Before and after the Newport win, manager but refused to comment anymore on the matter.

The 26-year-old returned to training on Monday and has reportedly been fined £650,000 over the incident – the equivalent of two weeks’ wages.

In a statement released on Monday night, United have now attempted to draw a line in the sand, saying: ‘Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions.

‘This has been dealt with as an internal disciplinary matter, which is now closed.’

He will be available for selection on Thursday night when United travel to Wolves for a Premier League clash.

, not least because the forward has been in woeful form this season, scoring just four goals across all competitions.

Alan Shearer was one of those, saying: ‘He can’t keep doing this, he can’t keep wasting his talent because it’s not right.

‘He needs strong management, someone to get hold of him and tell him there’ll be huge regrets come the end of his career if he continues doing this.

‘When I see him play, it looks like he’s got the world on his shoulders so it needs sorting now because he can’t really deal with it.’
