and have both picked up injuries that will see them miss ’s next match back after the international break – and potentially longer.

The pair were from international duty with Denmark after picking up knocks during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Luton Town.

Eriksen came off in the first half after sustaining a knee injury, with replacing him, while Hojlund appeared to sustain a hamstring issue and was replaced by Anthony Martial in the second half.

There had been fears Hojlund’s muscle injury could see him sidelined for a while, but United have now confirmed that it is just a strain and he should be back before the end of the month.

Eriksen’s problem is a little more serious and he could miss as many as six matches – including two must-win Champions League ties.

A statement from the club on Monday evening read: ‘Christian has a knee injury that is set to keep him out for around a month.

‘Rasmus suffered a muscle strain. It is hoped he will return before the end of November.’

Hojlund is not expected to be fit in time for the trip to Goodison Park to face Everton on Sunday 26 November, United’s first game back after the international break.

He could make a return against Galatasaray in the Champions League a few days later, before two massive back-to-back games against Newcastle and Chelsea in the Premier League.

If Eriksen is out of action for the full month, he will miss all four of those matches as well as a home game against Bournemouth and must-win showdown with Bayern Munich on December 12.

The games come thick and fast next month, though, and manager Erik ten Hag will even be sweating over Eriksen’s potential availability for away trips to face Liverpool and West Ham.

United are already light on midfield options with Casemiro ruled out until the new year, while Sofyan Amrabat has struggled for form and fitness.

Ten Hag is also dealing with a massive injury crisis in defence, with Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Jonny Evans all out of action, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka missed the win over Luton due to illness.
