will free up significant space on their wage bill this summer when , Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard leave the club.

The quartet are set to leave the club when their contracts expire in July, while and Lee Grant are also set to leave on free transfers.

Pogba is one of the club’s highest earners on £230,000-a-week, while Mata and Cavani earn close to £200,000-a-week.

While Ten Hag is set to sanction the departure of more players such as Andreas Pereira, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones and Eric Bailly, the Dutchman will already be granted significant space to bring in players because of the space on the wage bill.

According to the MEN, United expect to save £50m-a-year through the departure of just the out-of-contract players, and that is before Ten Hag allows others to leave.

United already have the highest wage bill in the Premier League, while many players will take a 25% cut because of their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

That should allow Ten Hag significant wriggle room to bring in the players that he wants, given the budget can be altered depending on the level of salary spend.

Ten Hag wants to sign a forward, a central midfielder and a centre-back this summer, with the three areas considered a priority.

United are set to hand him an initial budget of around £100m but that can be topped up through player sales.
