will consider selling midfielder James Garner to Leeds United this summer.
Garner made his senior United debut in 2019 but has developed into a promising young midfielder away from Old Trafford with spells on loan at and Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old has spent the last year at the City Ground with Forest, rejoining the club on loan until the end of the season last summer after extending his contract with United.
Garner is highly-rated by his parent club but a number of other sides are also interested in securing his services.
Leeds have identified Garner as a summer transfer target, according to and despite the rivalry between the two clubs, United may consider cashing in if they cannot guarantee him first-team football back in Manchester.
United reportedly contemplated bringing Garner back to Old Trafford in January with Ralf Rangnick not satisfied with the club’s options in the middle of the park.
They resisted, with Garner shining in Forest’s FA Cup run which included wins over Arsenal and Leicester City before being eliminated by Liverpool at the quarter-final stage.
The Manchester Evening News claimed last month Garner now feels ready to compete for a first-team spot at Old Trafford and does not intend to go back out on loan next season.
United are expected to lose Paul Pogba on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season with Donny van de Beek’s future likely to rest on who is appointed new manager.
