The 24-year-old England international striker scored twice as Erik ten Hag’s side made it four wins in a row to end Arsenal’s perfect start to the season.

The result moves United up to fifth, just three points behind Mikel Arteta’s league leaders, as they added to their wins over , Southampton and Liverpool.

‘It [was] a massive game against Arsenal,’ Rashford told . ‘They’ve had such a good start to the season and it was a big test for us today.

‘We showed up, we stood up to the challenge and we can all be proud of ourselves today.

‘I thought it was an even game. There were big spaces in the first half but we didn’t manage to exploit them.

‘But, in the second half, we managed to exploit the spaces and that’s what made the difference.’

Rashford this summer but looks much improved under Ten Hag after enduring a difficult spell last term.

He has registered three goals and two assists from United’s opening six games, with the Red Devils next in top-flight action when they travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday after Thursday’s Europa League group match against Real Sociedad.

‘We have some excellent passers of the ball and as long as we make runs we are going to get the ball,’ Rashford added.

‘We have to keep going for 90 minutes. There are a couple of times today we got through the press. It is important for us to keep going.’

Rashford has scored a total of 96 goals across 309 games for United since making his debut in the 2015-16 season.
