The attacking move which resulted in the goal started when Caicedo received the ball in his own half but his poor, heavy touch saw him dispossessed.
That allowed Taiwo Awoniyi to burst forward and play a pass through to Elanga – with the ball going in between Silva’s legs – before the Swedish star fired home.
‘We made one mistake and we cannot make it,’ Pochettino said. ‘That is why we feel really disappointed.
‘Football is about not making mistakes. We made one mistake and we paid for that.’
Pochettino also highlighted that Chelsea were not clinical enough and bemoaned his side’s lack of goals.
‘We created many chances but we did not score,’ he added. ‘This Premier League is really competitive if you don’t score it is difficult to win.
‘They didn’t create many chances. We conceded because of our mistake. Disappointed because it was a game that should be a win but we need to be more clinical in front of the goal. We didn’t score and that is why we didn’t win.
‘Congratulations to them but we were disappointed because we could not break down their low block.’
