Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Saint-Germain has dodged a question on the ongoing takeover saga at Manchester United following reports that he was aiding Sheikh Jassim with his bid for the club.

The Red Devils were put up for sale last November but the Glazer family appear no closer to selling the club.

That’s despite the Americans receiving two offers in excess of £5bn for the club.

One of those offers came from Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim, who is seeking 100% control of the club.

The Qatari lacks the sporting expertise that the bid of Sir Jim Ratcliffe includes.

However, he is said to have approached Al-Khelaifi to aid negotiations with the Raine Group, who are controlling the sale.

But speaking at the European Clubs’ Association meeting in Berlin this week, the Qatari refused to take a question about the takeover at Manchester United.

“I’m the chairman of the ECA,’ said Al-Khelaifi, as he dodged any talk of Jassim’s takeover bid.

Jassim and his team are said to be increasingly frustrated at the lack of communication from the Glazers over their intentions.

Reports in last week’s Mail on Sunday claimed the Glazers were ready to take the club off the market, as they were unsatisfied with the level of bids.

However, neither Jassim or Ratcliffe have been informed of any change, and they are still awaiting a decision to their bid.
