is facing a four-year ban after counter-analysis confirmed his failed doping test due to elevated levels of testosterone.
The adverse finding was initially discovered in Pogba’s test after ’ 3-0 win over Udinese on August 20.
but the midfielder would have been able to return to action if his B sample was clear.
However, Pogba now remains suspended as the B sample replicated the results of the initial test in August.
The World Cup winner could face a ban from football for up to four years, depending on the anti-doping prosecution process and whether the midfielder decides to negotiate a plea deal.
Juventus could also be in a position to terminate Pogba’s contract which is worth in the region of £150,000 a week.
When asked about Pogba’s B sample returning an adverse finding, Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri said on Friday: ‘I didn’t know, I’m sorry. We’ll wait for the ongoing developments. Talking about it now won’t serve any purpose.’
It’s understood that Pogba had taken nutritional supplements not knowing they contained testosterone.
The supplements were prescribed to him by one of his friends who is a doctor in the United States.
Pogba returned to Juventus on a free transfer in July last year after his contract with Manchester United expired.
The 30-year-old, who joined United for £89 million in 2016, was sidelined for a large part of last season and was forced to miss the World Cup after undergoing knee surgery.
