Phil Jones and Eric Bailly have informed their team-mates that they want to leave the club at the end of the season.
The pair have started just five times in the Premier League between them this term and they’re behind the likes of , Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in the pecking order.
Bailly signed a new three-year deal last year, despite being on the fringes of United’s squad.
Old Trafford chiefs blame that decision on Ed Woodward, who had a policy of extending the contracts of fringe players as he felt it was a way of protecting their value.
Jones is another who was given a long-term deal when his future at the club appeared over.
The defender was given a four-year deal in 2019 following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment but he’s been plagued by injuries ever since.
According to the , the pair have both told team-mates of their intention to leave the club this summer.
United may struggle for suitable offers for the pair and may need to accept reduced fees given their high wages.
Should the duo depart, they will be part of a mass exodus at Old Trafford this summer.
Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Lee Grant and Nemanja Matic are all set to leave on free transfers at the end of the season.
Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Dean Henderson could all be sold.
