have confirmed they have terminated ’s contract and the former star is now a free agent.
A statement on the Spanish club’s official website read: ‘Real Madrid CF and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will be released from the club as of June 30, 2023.
‘Eden Hazard has been part of our club for four seasons, in which he has won 8 titles: 1 European Cup, 1 Club , 1 European Super Cup, 2 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Spanish Super Cups.
‘Real Madrid wants to express its affection for Eden Hazard and wishes him and his entire family the best of luck in this new stage.’
Hazard joined Real in the summer of 2019 in a £90million deal at a point in his career where he appeared to be at the peak of his powers.
The Belgium international had just enjoyed arguably his best season in a Chelsea shirt and helped guide the Blues to a Europa League triumph under Maurizio Sarri.
Hazard had long dreamed of moving to the Bernabeu and it appeared to be a marriage made in heaven when he joined a side then managed by one of his heroes, Zinedine Zidane.
The 32-year-old’s spell in the Spanish capital has been nothing short of a nightmare, however, with injuries and a total loss of form and confidence ensuring he has been reduced to a bit-part player, particularly under Carlo Ancelotti.
Hazard is said to have hardly been on speaking terms with the Italian in recent months and overall made just 10 appearances in all competitions this season.
Reports claim a player once regarded as one of European football’s best wingers is contemplating retirement.
Real, meanwhile, are said to be determined to sign three attacking players this summer with the likes of Harry Kane and Chelsea’s Kai Havertz on their radar.
