won over his teammates almost instantly, reveals Dani Carvajal, who has hailed the intelligence of the midfielder.

The 20-year-old starred for on Tuesday night in the 3-1 win over Scotland, scoring his second goal for the Three Lions.

He has been in fine goal-scoring form since moving to Real Madrid from over the summer, netting five times in his first four games for the Spaniah giants.

There is no shortage of praise for the youngster who seems to have it all, and while Carvajal is keen to try and keep a lid on expectations, he admits that Bellingham was very quick to impress in training at Real Madrid.

‘We don’t want to deify him too much because the bar is set too high,’ Carvajal told Universo Valdano.

‘From the first moment when he started training, we looked at each other in , the veterans… and we said: “Phew, he knows what he’s doing!”

‘You don’t see that he’s very fast, that technically he’s crazy… it’s just that he’s very complete, he’s a finisher, you give him the ball and from the third week he’s understood everyone just by watching. He’s very intelligent.’

Bellingham has attributed his goal-scoring form to the freedom he has been given in the number 10 role at Real Madrid, a position that he was in for England on Tuesday.

He had been playing deeper and pushed out to the left in the 1-1 draw with Ukraine last week, but he much prefers the position he took up in Scotland and has been taking up for his club.

‘It’s just a freedom role really,’ he told Channel 4. ‘If you look at my performance in Madrid so far, they’re ones that are quite complete because I get given the freedom by the amazing teammates, coaching staff and manager that I’ve got.

‘They allow me to go all over the pitch, to help in build-up, to be there in the box to finish the chances and to create as well. I think I can do all of that pretty well, but I can still do it a lot better and that’s what I’m trying to prove to you all.

‘I think today was probably close. I know it depends on the system we play, an it’s tough because we’ve got so many amazing players to accommodate so it shouldn’t be built around what I do, the team comes first always. I do my best to slot in and do whatever the gaffer wants from me.

‘I probably think this one was a bit better suited than the weekend…no hints to the gaffer. No, I really enjoyed playing in that position tonight.’
