Brazil wonderkid Gabriel Moscardo, who is a transfer target for , has confirmed that attempted to sign him over the summer.
It was recently reported that Arsenal have made an approach for Moscardo, as looks to bolster his defensive midfield options in January.
However, there is much interest in the 18-year-old, and it is said that .
This speculation now appears to have confirmed by the player himself, who says he is aware of the transfer battle and that the Blues have been making moves for him for some time now.
‘There was a proposal from Chelsea months ago, but I talk a lot with my agent and my parents and they try to give me as little information as possible,’ Moscardo said.
‘They say there is not long until the end of the season, they tell me to dedicate myself and do well, and that at the end of the season, there will be good things.’
Moscardo only made his senior debut June and has 22 appearances for Corinthians so far, but is a highly-rated young prospect, and has already played for Brazil’s U23 side.
Chelsea have made a habit of snapping up Brazil wonderkids since Todd Boehly’s takeover, bringing in the likes of Deivid Washington and Andrey Santos.
But for now, the midfielder says he is just concentrating on doing his best for his current club who are battling against relegation.
Speaking after Corinthians 1-1 draw with Atletico Minerio earlier in the week, Moscardo added: ‘To tell you the truth, I have very little information.
‘My father knows a few things, he prefers not to tell me so as not to influence my head too much, to end up taking a little bit of my focus here, he says: “Here your focus is on Corinthians”.
‘Of course there’s interest from various clubs, I’ve also heard about it, there was strong interest from Chelsea a few months ago, but if you stop to think about where I’m going now, at this moment, it’s not good.
‘I want to help Corinthians now to get them out of this situation. Let’s wait for the season to end, there are still a few games to go, and we’ll see what we can do.’
