Manchester City will be crowned champions for the fifth time in six years on Sunday and it should be some ceremony as they put to the sword.

The sheer brilliance of City’s majestic performance against on Wednesday was something to behold as they ripped the crown out of the hands of the Spanish giants.

Real were rightly lauded when they produced their own spectacular show by beating Liverpool 5-2 at Anfield in February before crushing Barcelona 4-0 at the Nou Camp in the Copa del Rey.

But a side boasting the brilliance of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema were made to look slow, ponderous and very much second best by Pep Guardiola’s troubadours.

This was the Real Madrid who breezed into the semi-finals by and Blues fans must be praying they are not on the wrong end of a right old shellacking on Sunday.

City beat Chelsea 2-0 in the Carabao Cup in November and won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in the league at the turn of the year but they are an infinitely better side now than they were back then and look, quite frankly, unstoppable.

Of course, City could be suffering from a collective hangover if Arsenal fail to win at Nottingham Forest to hand City the title without kicking another ball.

But the wounded Gunners are expected to bounce back after their at the weekend and should be backed at 29/20 with Ladbrokes to lead HT/FT.
