The England international has been locked in talks with the Blues all season but the two parties have so far failed to agree terms.

Mount is thought to be looking for a deal that brings him closer in line with Chelsea’s biggest earners.

According to the , incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino will ask his new employers to restart negotiations with the player as soon as his own appointment is made official.

Hopes over a breakthrough are not high, however, with reporting that relations between Chelsea and Mount are at an all-time low with Mount having rejected a one-year contract extension back in February.

If no agreement over a new contract is reached, the club will likely cash in on Mount this summer instead of risking him leaving for nothing in 2024.

How long has Mason Mount been at Chelsea?

Mount joined Chelsea’s academy as a six-year old in 2005.

After a distinguished spell in the academy which saw him promoted to the U21 side when he was just 17, Mount spent two seasons on loan at Vitesse and Derby between 2017 and 2019 – where he was managed by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

When Lampard was appointed as the Chelsea manager in 2019, Mount was handed a place in the first team and he made his debut in their opening Premier League game of the season against Manchester United.

Over the next two seasons, Mount became an almost ever-present name in the starting XI and his performances saw him recognised as Chelsea’s Player of the Year in both the 2020/21 and 2021/22 campaigns.

But Mount’s form has dropped off this term with only three goals and six assists from his 35 appearances in all competitions.

The academy graduate, who has scored 33 goals and registered 37 assists in 195 appearances for the senior team, has not played since undergoing surgery to correct a pelvic issue in April.
