is just a matter of months away now, with the action set to kick off on November 21.
And that means that the 32 teams taking part in the tournament are set to find out who they will face in the group stages with the all-important World Cup draw taking place.
The countries have been divided into eight groups, which are each drawn from individual pots to determine who will face who.
But just when is the draw taking place – and who could England end up facing in that crucial first round?
When is the 2022 World Cup draw?
The draw for the group stage takes place in Qatar on Friday.
The draw is scheduled to begin at 5pm GMT
The teams will be drawn into eight groups of four, based on their current positions in the Fifa world rankings – and the draw with begin with the nations in Pot 1.
Tournament hosts Qatar have already been allocated the A1 position.
The other teams in Pot 1 will be picked out and then allocated a group, before moving on to Pot 2 where the same process is repeated until the draw is complete.
Who could England face in the 2022 World Cup?
England have been placed in Pot 1 for the draw, meaning they will not be facing any of the other teams in that Pot.
That rules out a clash with Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, France, Portugal, Spain or host nation Qatar.
They could however face any of the other teams in any of the other pots, which are as follows:
Pot 2 – Mexico, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Uruguay, Switzerland, USA, Croatia
Pot 3 – Senegal, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Serbia, Poland, South Korea, Tunisia
Pot 4 – Cameroon, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Ecuador, Ghana, Wales or Scotland/Ukraine, Costa Rica or New Zealand, Peru or Australia/United Arab Emirates
The fourth pot contains variables for matches which have yet to be played.
