Comedian Andy Smart died ‘unexpectedly’ last night at the age of 63, his daughter Grace has confirmed.
Known for performing with improvisational comedy group The Comedy Store Players, before this Smart was one half of the Vicious Boys with Angelo Abela.
Smart was said toevery Wednesday and Sunday at London’s famous club, The Comedy Store, up until his death.
Andy’s daughter Grace broke the sad news via his Twitter page today.
She said: ‘Hi this is Grace, Andy’s daughter, I’m very sorry to let you all know that dad passed away unexpectedly last night. He had so many friends and such a great life. Raise a glass for him. G x’
Tributes have already started flooding in, with Rufus Hound saying he is ‘heartbroken’ at the news.
‘Absolutely heartbroken,’ the actor began.
‘There will be others that will speak of his talent, but simply one of the great MEN died. A lust for revelry in all forms, there’s less light today. Will be drinking to him tonight. What a lad.’
Scottish comedian Kevin Bridges wrote: ‘RIP Andy Smart. A great laugh and always a brilliant guy to be around.’
EastEnders actress and fellow Comedy Store Players member Josie Lawrence said Smart was a ‘joy’.
‘Shocking news. Andy Smart has died. We the Comedy Store Players are utterly heartbroken. We cannot say how much we will miss him. He was a joy,’ she said.
‘He laughed more than anyone we knew. He did so much crazy stuff but mostly he made our little world way more fun. We loved him so much.’
