Helen Flanagan and ’s time in the jungle came to an end during Wednesday’s I’m A Celebrity South Africa.

Tuesday’s episode ended with a nail-biting trial which saw , Fatima Whitebread, , , Jordan Banjo, Myleene Klass, Helena and Dean.

In the challenge, the eight celebrities were locked in a crate, with their heads poking out of them. They had to untangle a key from a series of cords, and unlock the padlock that was keeping them trapped inside of the crate before ringing a bell.

Unsurprisingly, several creepy crawlies were added to the crates as the battle went on. Campmates were told that the last two stars left in their crates would be leaving camp for good.

As the trial progressed, soap stars Helen, 32, and Dean, 45, were the last two, which meant their time on the show was over.

‘I’ve had the time of my life I have just had the best time I am so grateful. I knew I would be bad at the challenge,’ she told hosts Ant and Dec.

Dean added: ‘Hopefully I did better than last time. I am definitely going home heavier than I arrived with all the picnics that’s for sure! You know what I’m done I haven’t laughed that much in years.’

Viewers expressed their shock online, with one person writing: ‘Gutted that Helen’s left. She’s been brilliant this series.’

‘Not watching #ImACeleb tonignt but I’ve just seen that Helen is gone and I’m absolutely devastated.Really wanted her to go all the way this time. Her confidence has come on leaps and bounds since she was last in the jungle 10 years ago.Well done Helen you superstar,’ another added.

This comes after TV personality in yesterday’s episode.

Cricketer Phil and the former EastEnders actor were the final two not to be picked which meant they had to face Temple of Doom.

The duo raced for survival attempting to unlock four locks, seeking codes from the holes in the lid of the tomb. In a race against the clock, Joe and Phil battled it out to escape first and save their place in camp, however, Joe struggled in the final few moments, and ultimately lost his place in the competition.

I’m A Celebrity…South Africa returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
