had a bit of a cringe encounter when he was asked to move his bike from outside a fancy pub.
But, the Gavin & Stacey star, 44, remained in high spirits and was more than happy to oblige, enjoying a day out in the capital.
Following his return home to the UK after wrapping up his Late Late Show hosting duties, James has been finding his feet again.
He seems to have settled back in nicely, though, as he made the most of the rare British sunshine with a ride around Mayfair on a Lime bike.
James was scolded like a naughty schoolboy though when he arrived at his destination of a local pub on Monday (August 21), mounting the pavement before cheekily leaning the bike against the door.
It didn’t take long for the doorman to notice, who then removed the bike and told James he couldn’t just leave it there.
After his bike was placed against a lampost, James took it from the doorman and cycled off to place it elsewhere.
The actor was in high spirits as he listened to music on his mobile and even danced in the street.
James was then seen taking selfies with members of the public, making their day a million times better with the chance encounter.
He smiled as the women chatted to him for a while before being the one to take the pics and ensure everyone’s best angle was captured.
The presenter and comedy star kept his attire casual in a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a navy jacket, shielding his eyes with a pair of shades.
James has kept a relatively low profile over recent months since he returned to British soil.
Apart fromand soaking up the actionwe haven’t seen much of him.
Although it seems that’s what James wanted, given that the reason for ending his Late Late run was to spend time with his family.
The late-night host after eight years at the helm and an impressive 1,200 episodes.
Speaking ahead of his departure, James delivered an emotional speech, thanking his colleagues and admitting it was ‘unfathomable’ that CBS had ‘taken a chance on me’.
‘And I have, if I’m honest… I’ve struggled to find the words to sum up what this past eight years has meant to me, is almost impossible. I, frankly… I don’t know where to start,’ he said during his final episode.
‘But I sit here now today with nothing but love, gratitude and pride.’
The star has since been papped with his wife house hunting in Hampstead after selling his mansion in Los Angeles for just over $17million (£13.3m).
James and Julia have been married since 2012 and they share three children together: Max, Carey and Charlotte.
