A new collectible Lego minifigure series has been announced based on The Muppets, including Lego-ised versions of Kermit, Animal, and more.

Most licensed Lego sets are giant-sized vehicles made for adult fans, like the or the , but that isn’t always the case, especially when it comes to movies or TV shows with a lot of very distinct characters.

Instead of an expensive vehicle or diorama set The Muppets have been turned into a new line of collectible minifigures – blind bags that you buy without knowing what’s in them and hope they contain the character you want.

Often times these series are original Lego creations but The Muppets one features 12 characters including Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and the Swedish Chef.

There isn’t a UK price yet, but the series will be released on May 1 and judging by previous ones based on the likes of Harry Potter and Looney Tunes will likely be £3.49 a bag.

Each figure has their own unique sculpted head and comes with an appropriate accessory, such as a banjo for Kermit, a drum set for Animal, and a chicken for Gonzo.

  • Fozzie Bear

Although many don’t realise it, Disney has owned The Muppets since 2004 and so this new minifigure range comes from the fact that Lego and Disney have been working together on tie-ins for many years now.

The relationship with Star Wars predates the Disney takeover but the 10 year licensing deal recently came to an end and… was immediately signed up for another 10 years.

That’s not exactly a surprise, given how lucrative the line is for both companies, but according to fan site the new deal includes all Disney intellectual properties. So not just Star Wars, Marvel, and The Muppets but theoretically anything from The Nightmare Before Christmas to Splash.
