Marilyn Manson has been accused of grooming and sexually assaulting an underage girl multiple times, in a new lawsuit
In the filing, which was submitted in Nassau County Supreme Court, in New York, the Sweet Dreams singer was accused of sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, among other charges.
The 54-year-old – real name Brian Warner – was listed as a defendant alongside his former labels, Noting Records and Interscope.
The woman, known only as Jane Doe, has claimed that she first met Warner after a 1995 concert in Dallas when she was 16, where he allegedly invited her and another girl onto his tour bus, asking for their names, ages, phone numbers and addresses.
According to the paperwork, obtained by , he allegedly ‘performed various acts of criminal sexual conduct’ upon the teenager, ‘forced copulation and vaginal penetration’. The age of consent in Texas is 17.
It was claimed that a bandmember watched as the assault took place, after which Warner laughed at the girl and told her to ‘get the f**k off’ the bus, before threatening to kill her and her family if she spoke of their alleged encounter.
A crew member gave her a number and a password to contact the Grammy-nominee, who reportedly convinced her to travel to New Orleans – where the age of consent is 17 – where he ‘then became more aggressive and again sexually assaulted Plaintiff, including kissing, biting her breast, oral copulation, and penetration,’ the suit claims.
Warner reportedly told Doe that he wanted to continue seeing her and she spent four weeks on the road with Warner while they went on tour, when she was 18, in which she alleged that he would ‘groom, harass and sexually abuse’ her.
She claimed that he ‘had purposefully and intentionally laid the groundwork necessary to intimidate and control her,’ when she was still a child, and this power was still present when she reached the legal age of maturity.
According to the suit, she reportedly voiced her thoughts about going home to her family and shared the lack of support she felt, something he ‘exploited’ in a bid to keep her under his control.
He was accused of making Doe feel ‘alone and isolated by telling her that no one understands her other than him, which included her family’. She believed this and was compelled to keep following him.
The documents allege that this pattern was continued throughout their time together, and that Warner ‘perpetuated his grooming, manipulation, exploitation and sexual assault of her’ over the course of a month when she was 19.
‘Throughout the tour and while within the State of New York, when Plaintiff was with Defendant Warner both on concert days and on off days, Defendant Warner coerced her to have sex with him,’ it read.
‘Defendant Warner often coerced Plaintiff to have sex with him and other band members or his assistant at the same time. Defendant Warner controlled what Plaintiff could do, who could touch Plaintiff, and who he wanted Plaintiff to be with sexually, all while providing Plaintiff with drugs.’
During the 1999 tour, she refused to accompany the musician to his room, because she was afraid of how he had ‘been sexually violent’ in the past – after which he reportedly began treating her worse.
Doe is suing for intentional infliction of emotional distress among other charges, claiming that Warner’s ‘emotional manipulation’ included ‘hostile and verbally abusive behavior’. She alleged that he ‘openly called her racial slurs and called her fat’.
As well as Warner, she has named Nothing Records and Interscope as defendants, alleging that they were ‘aware of his practice of sexually assaulting minors, and aided and abetted such behavior’.
‘As a result of Brian Warner’s sexual abuse and assault, enabled and encouraged by Defendants Interscope and Nothing Records, Plaintiff has suffered severe emotional, physical, and psychological distress, including shame, and guilt, economic loss, economic capacity and emotional loss,’ it read.
Doe alleges that they failed to safeguard her from his behavior and did not have a ‘reasonable system or procedure in place’ to investigate.
A number of other women have come forward to accuse Manson of sexual and physical assault in recent years.
Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco claimed that he left her with post-traumatic stress disorder and derailed her career after subjecting her to years of torment – and .
Evan Rachel Wood previously shared her allegations of abuse in a lengthy Instagram post, claiming that he groomer her as a teenager.
‘The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson,’ she said at the time.
He denied all allegations against him, and has over her allegations.
