Former star has revealed her mum has been diagnosed with .
Appearing on the sixth season of the reality dating series in 2021, Marilyse was and while they left the experiment a couple, they later broke up.
Now that her family have been hit by the news that her mum is battling cancer.
Posting photos of her mum in hospital, Marilyse said she was ‘so incredibly proud of my beautiful best friend, my Mumma’.
‘I’ve not been myself recently and my family have been having a really hard time, one that I never thought would ever happen,’ she wrote on Instagram.
‘For the past few weeks we have been living a nightmare undergoing scans tests and all sorts to get to the bottom of what’s wrong with her.
‘Having had cancer affect my dad when we were just kids, you really don’t expect it to happen again.’
However with another diagnosis in the family, Marilyse shared the cancer was affecting her mum’s stomach and ‘other areas’.
‘Life can really challenge and test you. Unexpectedly. Without any warning. You can’t take anything for granted,’ she wrote.
‘But as a close family unit we will make sure we do what we can to make my Mum okay.’
She concluded: ‘Yesterday mum was dreading having her endoscopy from a bad experience years ago and thanks to the lovely doctor who breezed mum through it, she didn’t feel a thing. For that I am proud of her.’
The post was flooded with messages of support from well-wishers, with one person writing they were ‘sending all my love’ to the family.
Another wrote: ‘Thinking of your mum and your family and hoping all this early exploration means your mum gets the best possible chances.’
After leaving the experiment and breaking up with her husband, Marilyse, a controversial star of last year’s season.
While they confirmed they were in a relationship in October, in March they revealed they had called time on their relationship due to being ‘too different’.
During his season, Matt was partnered with Gemma Rose, but quickly left her for co-star Whitney Hughes, in what was dubbed a ‘wife swap’ drama.
