Unfortunately for fans, Paul Cooper revealed that the chance of a brand new series is highly unlikely.
The mockumentary sitcom steadily became a hugely popular British comedy, following cousins Kurtan (Charlie Cooper) and Kerry () navigating through life in suburban Gloucestershire, terrorising neighbours and giving their local vicar a headache.
Paul – whose real life children Daisy and Charlie starred in the BBC series – also featured in the popular programme as .
During Saturday’s edition of Celebrity , which is hosted by , Paul expressed the joys of working closely with his children on the hit show.
‘The kids kinda put me up to it,’ Paul told the 57-year-old newsreader.
‘Some of the lines they wrote for their own father are… I mean they take the mickey all the time. If I do anything wrong they’re in hysterics.’
When Clive asked the star if a fourth series was in the works, Paul replied: ‘I don’t think so, probably not.’
‘They’ve kinda moved in other directions now.’
Speaking about how the show has helped him, he joked: ‘I mean it’s opened a few doors for me. I opened a new bus shelter the other day.’
When asked by Metro.co.uk about his feelings on seeing Gloucestershire represented, Paul described it as ‘great’ because his children had been ‘so happy’ there.
he said: ‘We moved there when Daisy was four weeks old and they’ve grown up there, [and] been so happy. And This Country has put the Cotswolds on the map, so yeah – very proud.’
Across three series, This Country won three Royal Television Awards and four , including one for best female comedy performance for Daisy’s performance as Kerry.
Last year, the 35-year-old actress hinted the only way the beloved sitcom would return would be when Daisy needed ‘more money.’
