has made a triumphant return to our TV screens, and with it came a rather unusual character.
We’ve had all kinds of animals, foods, and inanimate objects over the years, but 2024 brought us something wildly different… a singing Air Fryer.
Yep, the character performed for returning judges , , , and and had everyone flummoxed with their vocal talents.
All kinds of guesses were from drag queen royalty to Gogglebox icons following their first performance of Kings & Queens by Ava Max.
But, who is behind the mask?
Let’s take a look at about Air Fryer’s identity…
What clues are there for Air Fryer’s identity?
- Lots of references to cooking and celebrity chefs.
- ‘The results are in’ – are they a judge, perhaps on MasterChef?
- ‘These sparkles cost extra’ – have they been on Strictly Come Dancing?
- Hairdressing scissors were spotted on the kitchen surface.
- Definitely had strong vocals, so could have singing experience?
- ‘My voice is well known, but I once needed help from a girl from Chigwell.’
Who could Air Fryer on The Masked Singer be?
One clue in particular had the judges almost certain Air Fryer was either Jessie J – or at least had a very strong connection to her.
When reciting their riddle, Air Fryer said: ‘My voice is well known, but I once needed help from a girl from Chigwell.’
Chigwell is a town in the Epping Forest District of Essex, which is where Price Tag hitmaker Jessie, 35, is from.
Rita Ora’s ears instantly perked up, as she suggested Air Fryer could be Jessie.
Jessie certainly has the voice to be Air Fryer, having released plenty of banging tunes herself over the years.
What’s more, she’s a songwriter for other artists, so perhaps someone who has voiced one of her tracks is behind the mask?
Soap star Jacqueline Jossa has an impressive set of pipes on her, so could she be hiding behind Air Fryer?
Davina McCall certainly thinks so.
In Air Fryer’s clue package, Davina noticed a fruit and veg stall on a market.
At first, she thought this was a cookery reference, but soon changed her mind to take it as a nod to EastEnders, which Jacqueline, 31, has starred in as Lauren Branning since she was a teen.
Jacqueline has shown us in the past that she can sing, having posted covers to social media.
Well, stranger things have happened!
Jonathan Ross was convinced drag royalty RuPaul, 63, is the one behind Air Fryer, which is a very strange sentence to write, we’ll admit.
His reasoning came from the sentence, ‘Are you Paul?’ in the clue package, which could be broken down to RuPaul.
Well, we know Ru can sing and has plenty of performing experience.
Mo Gilligan was very confident in his guess of Scarlett Moffatt.
The Gogglebox alum, 33, has shown in the past that she can sing, with presenter Joel Dommett confirming that, having been in I’m A Celeb with her, she’s very musically talented.
Air Fryer’s clue package contained many references to food, and comedian Mo pointed out that Scarlett had a celebrity cooking dating show, and she’s also been on Bake Off.
The Masked Singer continues on Saturday at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
