Jey Uso laid out Roman Reigns and his own brother Jimmy before quitting as SmackDown went off the air.
Main Event Jey was fuming and didn’t accept his twin’s explanation after being screwed out of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and the title of Tribal Chief at SummerSlam.
On Friday night, Jey and the fans were awaiting some kind of reasoning for, and it all came to a head at the end of the show.
Flanked by Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa, Roman Reigns wanted to speak to Jimmy – who made his way through the crowd – and offer him some compensation for getting involved.
He wasn’t interested in being rewarded for screwing his twin in such a monumental match, and Jey soon came out to confront his brother and demand an explanation.
Jimmy insisted he had seen how being Tribal Chief corrupted Roman and made the Head of the Table so manipulative, and he was scared of losing him the same way.
It’s safe to say Jey didn’t accept this, and he ended up first taking out both Roman and Solo, before laying out Jimmy on the ramp with a massive Superkick.
He then insisted he was, walking out and leaving fans with plenty of questions regarding his immediate future.
Rey Mysterio wins United States Championship, Edge challenges Sheamus and more
The first match of the night saw former WWE Women’s Champion Asuka battling Charlotte Flair as they both looked to regain momentum after a disappointing night at SummerSlam.
Bianca Belair won their Triple Threat weekend before, and the new champ – plus her Damage CTRL teammates – made a mark this week too.
The match ended with Iyo, Bayley and Dakota Kai hitting the ring to take out both Flair and Asuka in a real show of dominance.
Santos Escobar got laid out backstage by Austin Theory, who focused on the leg and looked to take out his opponent before their match later in the night.
Later, the United States Champion went on the attack again as Santos made his way to the ring, forcing the bout to be cancelled as Adam Pearce announced Rey Mysterio as the replacement.
What followed was a brief match with a great ending as Rey won the gold and celebrated with the Latino World Order, but it might not be long until Santos’ jealousy bubbles over.
Earlier in the night, AJ Styles beat Karrion Kross in an entertaining match that built up well despite an awkward moment coming out of a Moonsault into a reverse DDT.
Edge made a surprise appearance after the announcement of a special 25 year celebration for the Hall of Famer next week in Toronto.
He laid down a challenge to face Sheamus on the show, and the Celtic Warrior accepted after a genuinely sweet and tender exchange between two veterans.
LA Knight kept on rolling with a win over Hit Row star Top Dalla, before ripping into his opponent after the bell as he continues to get amazing reactions each and every week.
WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on TNT Sports 1.
