WWE star Sheamus defends Ridge Holland after cruel backlash over injuries: ‘He’s safe in there’

superstar Sheamus has heaped praise on Ridge Holland and described him as ‘safe’ in the ring.

The Celtic Warrior defended , who is part of the trio alongside Sheamus and Butch, over the he has been subjected to since Big E’s horror injury in May 2022.

Regarding that incident, Irish veteran exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I think Ridge got put in a situation or tarnished a little bit, people were saying he was dangerous and stuff.

‘Ridge is an incredible athlete, he’s smooth as hell in the ring, and what happened was very unfortunate but I just feel like he hasn’t been given a proper opportunity to show what he can do.’

after some trolls blamed him for Elton Prince’s injury in the tag match between Brawling Brutes and Pretty Deadly on SmackDown.

Speaking before Elton’s injury occurred, Sheamus added: ‘He’s a former rugby player, he’s unbelievably strong, but he’s safe in there too man, and he’s smooth.’

Earlier this year, Big E’s tag team partner and urged people to direct their energy into ‘something positive’ after the Yorkshireman revealed he had been subject to death threats and accusations of racism over the neck break in March 2022.

Xavier tweeted: ‘Pro Wrestling is extremely dangerous. All of us involved understand that. Ridge & his family do not deserve to be treated this way. Please do not send any hate towards them.

‘Instead use your energy to do something positive like sending love to E. Be kind. Please be kind. (sic)’

Ridge was involved in the incident when a in a terrifying moment live on air as Big E – who has made it clear he doesn’t blame his opponent for the injury – landed on his head during a belly to belly suplex.

He fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrates, although he avoided any ligament or spinal cord damage, and recently revealed he has recovered but has no update on a potential return to the ring.
