Benzema was on the scoresheet again in the return leg against Jurgen Klopp’s men, netting the only goal of the game as Madrid wrapped up the tie 6-2 on aggregate.

The Real Madrid captain scored for the third Champions League game in a row when he in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

As well as his four goals, Benzema has managed one assist in the competition – against Liverpool in the away leg.

Benzema’s 90 career goals in the Champions League puts him in fourth place on the all-time list of top goalscorers in the competition, behind Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski.

How many goals has Karim Benzema scored in total this season?

In all competitions this season, Benzema has scored 26 goals for Real Madrid.

Of these 26 goals, 14 have arrived in La Liga, four in the Copa del Rey and two in the Spanish Super Cup.

Benzema has also managed one goal apiece in the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

In total, Benzema has scored 349 goals for Real Madrid since making his debut in 2009, a feat only bettered by Cristiano Ronaldo with 450.
