Jurgen Klopp reveals ‘rather serious’ injury to Alisson Becker in major blow

says that Alisson Becker’s injury is ‘rather serious’ and ‘not short’ but backs his No.1 goalkeeper to return before the end of the season.

Alisson will miss his fifth straight match on Saturday as Liverpool make the trip to , looking to maintain their title challenge.

The Brazilian is struggling with a muscle issue and is set for an extended spell on the sidelines in a major blow to Klopp’s side, .

‘There is no real timescale on it (Alisson’s return),’ Klopp said on Friday. ‘But it is a proper muscle injury.

‘Different players recover differently. That is it pretty much. It is not a short one.

‘It is not that he will be in contention for next week or something like that. We have to wait a few more weeks, definitely, for him.

‘He is working in the gym, not on the pitch, it is a rather serious one but not a season-ending injury.’

Meanwhile, Klopp has confirmed that Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai are back in contention to face Nottingham Forest.

The match will come too soon for Mohamed Salah, though, while Wataru Endo and Andy Robertson are doubtful for the clash at the City Ground.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota are all ruled out.
