and renew their historic rivalry in Glasgow this evening with the to mark the 150th anniversary of the first meeting between the two.
Scotland hosted the ‘Auld Enemy’ at the West of Scotland Cricket Club in 1872, with around 4,000 fans turning out to watch the goalless draw in what was the very first international match to be played in the beautiful game.
The fixture took place annually between 1884 and 1989, but since then England vs Scotland has become something of a rarity with only eight matches having been held in the past 33 years.

England are currently in possession of the biggest win in the rivalry courtesy of their 9-3 triumph at Wembley in April 1961.
Recent form
England have tasted defeat just once in the past 12 meetings (W8 D3) between the two sides – a 1-0 home defeat in a Euro 2000 play-off at 24 years ago.
That, however, was not enough to see the Scots qualify for the tournament with England running out 2-0 winners in Glasgow.
The last game between England and Scotland was the Euro 2020 group stage clash at Wembley which ended in a drab 0-0 draw.
