Daisy Kelliher confessed that she was ‘shocked’ by Gary King’s reaction to her kiss with co-star Colin Macrae.
Sailing Yacht fans have watched on as the chief stewardess and the bosun managed to perfect their flirtatious banter after living and working together in such close quarters over many charter seasons.
The cameras caught them , but they made sure that it didn’t impact their friendship, remaining close on-and-off screen as Gary went on to up a boatmance with another castmate.
However, he was left positively raging in the trailer for the fourth series after – and accused his co-star of ‘hooking up’ with his best friend out of ‘spite’.
The head of the interior crew in a chat with Metro.co.uk, admitting that it took her totally by surprise.
‘That was shocking,’ she said of his anger. ‘I think the viewers will be shocked – it all starts to kick off with the second half of the season. I don’t know what Gary’s game is, even me watching the episodes, it’s like watching a whole new show.
‘Seeing him go after the girl that all the boys go [for], it felt like Gary was jealous because he just didn’t want Colin to have me. It didn’t feel like, at the time, he genuinely had feelings for me. Of course, I’m confused – do I go with my instinct? Do I go with what I’m being told?
‘Watching the series progress, I’m like, my instinct was 100% right, you just wanted me because I was a prize to you, like I was a shiny toy. At least in my opinion.
‘I was pretty surprised, I was shocked. I was like, “Wait, you’ve given me no indication, apart from the odd flirting…” To come straight out and be like, ““’
Both Gary and Daisy joined Parsifal III in the second series of the Below Deck spin-off and originally didn’t get along, before a friendship eventually blossomed when they took steps to improve their working relationship.
Their connection was evident to see, and fans were living for the scenes, not-so-subtly sharing their hopes that the pair would end up together.
Discussing why everyone is clamoring for them to jump into a relationship, the Bravo star continued: ‘It’s like watching a love story, [a] will they / won’t they? You want that story at the end where you’re like, “Oh my god, they’ve sailed off together in the sunset and they’re so happy.”
‘I guess a big thing is that we have a lot of fun together. Maybe people like us killing each other and then being able to hug and laugh it out, maybe people aspire for that in their own relationship? It’s okay to have a fight but then being able to giggle – I would love that in my own relationship.
‘I love that we’re able to kill each other and the next minute we’re giggling and hugging. Maybe that’s what people love about it? I’m not really sure but everyone loves a good love story. Unfortunately, this isn’t Disney, this is reality.’
Speaking of reality, Daisy remained coy over where her relationship with Colin stands now in the wake of their kiss, but suggested that the racy moment was a long time coming.
‘There was possibly something always there,’ she added. ‘I think we always liked each other, and it eventually starts to transpire. It’s hard because we were friends and it’s crossing that line into something that you’re scared you’re going to break.
‘You’re going to see it unfold and it’s not the easiest ride, which I think was inevitable, given [that] we’re friends, we both have histories, we’re colleagues. It’s that typical boatmance or any office romance that you see.’
We can’t wait to see their romance set sail…
