are considering a move for star in the January transfer window, according to reports.

Maatsen, who primarily plays as a left-back but can also feature as a winger, has made nine appearances for the Blues this term.

Those have mostly come as a substitute and the 21-year-old has failed to come off the bench in four of Chelsea’s last five games.

Maatsen had been hoping to make more of an impact at Stamford Bridge and break into the XI following an impressive loan at Burnley last season as he helped them win the Championship title and was named in the Team of the Season.

But it has not panned out that way for the Dutchman, who almost moved to Burnley in a £31.5m permanent move this summer before the deal fell through.

Maatsen, who spent time in Chelsea’s academy after joining from PSV in 2018, is now being tracked by West Ham in a possible January move, according to .

It is believed that the Hammers have asked for information on Maatsen’s availability and are considering an attempt for him when the window opens.

Maatsen, who is under contract until the summer of 2025, if his game time under head coach Mauricio Pochettino does not improve.

‘I have to play more for [international opportunities],’ he told . ‘I still think that is possible at Chelsea. As a young player you always want more. I gain confidence from the trainer’s words and I am ready when the opportunity comes.

‘In the meantime, I have to keep all options open. I may have to make difficult choices later, but then the club will indicate that.’
